01 / THE ARTIST
An accidental artist,
drawn to human moments.
Doede Ackers is a Dutch artist living in Belgium.
He describes himself as an accidental artist,
drawn to figurative work, expressive portraits,
and the human stories that appear between people.
His paintings often return to moments of joy, friendship, compassion, survival, teaching, and shared presence.
For Doede, painting is a way to capture a feeling, expression, or situation in an authentic way.
“I would like people to connect
with what I show in my paintings.”

02 / THE JOURNEY
Becoming an artist was not something Doede Ackers had originally planned.
His interest in art grew through observing people, their relationships, and the situations that shape their lives. Over time, these observations found their way into paintings and drawings.
What began as a personal interest became a way of giving form to experiences, emotions, and moments worth remembering.
03 / the Work
At the heart of Doede's work are people.
Joy, friendship, compassion, survival, and the connections that bring people together appear throughout his paintings and drawings.
A gesture, an expression, or a shared moment can become the starting point for a work of art. Through these subjects, Doede invites viewers to look beyond what is immediately visible and find their own connection with the scene.
Each work offers a moment to observe, reflect, and perhaps recognise something of ourselves in others.
